Dragon Age Inquisition is free for a week as part of Epic’s Mega Sale

What just happened? Epic launched a promotion with deep discounts on some of the biggest recent releases. It is one of the most valuable giveaways in Epic Games Store history. Customers can pick up BioWare’s award-winning Dragon Age Inquisition gratis for the next seven days.

Dragon Age Inquisition: Game of the Year Edition is free on the Epic Games Store until March 23. The critically acclaimed RPG is the first among several mystery freebies the company will reveal between now and the end of its “Mega Sale” on June 13. The hit title includes all expansion packs and downloadable content. However, it still requires EA’s game launcher.

Following its initial 2014 launch, the game won numerous accolades, including Game of the Year from The Game Awards and DICE. Sources speaking with Eurogamer said one of the unnamed upcoming releases for this fiscal year mentioned in a recent EA financial report is the sequel, Dragon Age Dreadwolf.

If true, BioWare’s next major RPG will launch before April 1, 2025. The studio has revealed almost nothing about the game. However, EA is hosting a showcase this summer (likely next month), which would be an ideal time for an official announcement. Claiming the free offer for Inquisition this week might be a good way for fans to prepare for a sequel.

Epic will reveal the next free mystery game when the Inquisition giveaway ends on May 23 at 11 am ET. The sale will include at least three more mystery titles.

The promotion also includes discounts on various popular titles. The heftiest price cuts are for EA Sports FC 24 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which are 80 percent off at $13.99 and $11.99, respectively. Horizon Zero Dawn and Far Cry 6 are 75 percent off at $12.49 and $14.99.

Deals on games from this year include Prince of Persia The Lost Crown for $29.99 at a 40 percent discount, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League for $27.99 after a 60 percent price cut, and a half-off sale on Skull and Bones for $29.99. Alan Wake II is on sale for $39.99 after a 20 percent markdown, and Rockstar is again listing steep discounts for Red Dead Redemption 2 ($23.99) and Grand Theft Auto V ($14.99).

These sales last until March 23, when Epic will likely rotate in a new selection of deals.
